The Piz Scalottas

The Piz Scalottas lies on 2’323 meters above sea level . M. , and can be reached by chairlift.
The Arosa bear sanctuary
The Arosa bear sanctuary will open its doors in summer 2018. Visitors to the sanctuary can observe bears from a large visitors’ platform, while children can play in the “Bear School” children’s corner.
The animal welfare organisation VIER PFOTEN is working in partnership with the Arosa bear foundation on the Arosa bear sanctuary animal protection project. From summer 2018 five bears that were freed from poor captive conditions will live in the sanctuary. They will be able to return to living in their natural habitat amid a natural mountain landscape featuring bushes, rocks, streams and forests.
The bear sanctuary can be easily reached by the Arosa Weisshorn railway. It has a restaurant, toilets, visitor platform and children’s playground. The Arosa bear sanctuary also organises tours through its reserve.
The Arosa bear sanctuary is easily accessible by train and by car. It takes about 40 minutes by train from Chur to Arosa. Those travelling there by car can park in the Obersee or Ochsenbühl park garages in Arosa.
The Obersee Lake
The Obersee lake, on 1,739m above sea level, is the bigger of the two lakes which are located within the village of Arosa. Both lakes still belong to the civil community Chur. The lake provides a home for numerous water and reed birds as well diving ducks and most European swimming ducks. During the summer season the lake is open for rowing and paddle boats. In addition there is a water show three times a week. During the winter season the lake becomes an event location for several events like the traditional horse race on snow, the winter golf tournament, the hot-air balloon week.
